Category Linking

What this step does

This final onboarding step controls whether categories are mapped between WooCommerce and Epos Now.

If enabled, products will sync into linked categories based on your product master direction.

If disabled, products still sync, but category assignment is managed separately on the destination platform.

tip

Completing this step marks onboarding as complete.

Category Linking (steps)

  1. Decide whether to enable category linking.
  2. If enabling, open Category Linker and map categories between WooCommerce and Epos Now.
  3. If WooCommerce is product master, set a master category on products that have multiple Woo categories where needed.
  4. Finish the step to save your setting and complete onboarding.

What happens next

  • Your category linking preference is saved.
  • If enabled, category links are applied during product sync.
  • If enabled, products are queued to sync in your current product master direction and will use linked categories.
  • The onboarding flow is marked complete.

Common issues

  • Products are not landing in expected categories

    • Likely cause: missing or incorrect category links.
    • Fix: review and update mappings in Category Linker, then allow sync to process updates. If using WooCommerce as the master for products, check if multiple categories are set on WooCommerce and if so, make sure you set the master category field on WooCommerce.
  • Category linking is disabled but should be on

    • Likely cause: onboarding choice was set to disabled.
    • Fix: contact support to enable category linking after onboarding.
